Gwen Stacy was the first true love of Peter Parker's life, but when they first met things didn't exactly start off on the right foot as Peter ignored Gwen with many things on his mind including his Aunt May and all the super villains threatening his life...Within time, they grew together until her very untimely death which shattered Peter's life...Gwen, an only child, was a beauty queen in her high school and then became a biochemistry major at Empire State University where she met Peter and shared the same biochemistry professor, Miles Warren...Gwen never did know that Peter was truly Spider-Man and Gwen eventually blamed Spider-Man for the death of her father Captain George Stacy. 

In arguably one of the greatest comic stories of all time, Gwen died as a result of a fall from atop the George Washington bridge courtesy of the Green Goblin who held her hostage. It was an extremely shocking event in the mythos of Spider-Man and has been the most visited "flashback" in the future pages of Spider-Man comics (after his origin). Spider-Man was too late in saving her as her neck snapped in one of the most memorable panels of all time...Was this end of Gwen? Kind of, as she has since returned as a clone as Gwen & Peter's professor Miles Warren has always been obsessed with Gwen and had used cell samples to create this clone (as well as several Spider-Man's!)...This clone has been used as a plot to destroy Spider-Man and Miles Warren has since taken to the dual identity of the Jackal...Many years later, Peter, friends, family, readers and fans are still affected by this tragic story and Gwen Stacy will be forever missed after the most untimely of deaths.
