The Final Chapter Part 2 of 4. Continued from Amazing Spider-Man #441. Continued in Spectacular Spider-Man #263.

It's the second part of the four-part storyline "The Final Chapter" and we all think we know what "gift" each participant received form the gathering of five ceremony in Amazing Spider-Man #441. It is originally thought from the end of that issue, that Norman Osborn received the much sought after gift of power. He has now suited up again as the Green Goblin, something he has not done since he came back as the Goblin in the landmark Spider-Man #75.

The story opens as Osborn is helped with his costume by some of his men, and he hears that Alison Mongrain has gotten word to Peter Parker (through his wife Mary Jane in Amazing Spider-Man #441) that "May is still alive". Osborn is now fully attired as the Green Goblin again, and he glides off for a "final reckoning" between himself and Spider-Man. As he leaves, he leaves a couple of pumpkin bombs for the men, and the house blows up killing everyone inside. An hour later at a hunting lodge owned by Norman Osborn, Spider-Man swings by, thinking that his baby (May) is still alive. Remember that a package was delivered to Alison Mongrain that many believed to be the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane, after the baby was born. The Parker's were led to believe that the baby died, but now they have reason to believe otherwise. Peter cannot believe that Osborn can go so far as take a baby from them, and Peter wants to end this entire event now! After swinging over the fence into Osborn's property, Spider-Man has to evade some traps set by Osborn, including spikes on the ground, spiked tree, and strange creatures that protect his land. While he is making way on Norman's property, Mary Jane is getting dressed for a photo shoot as a model with friend Jill Stacy. She is set to become a cover girl for a line of clothing that fall, but she is still thinking about Peter and the "ghosts" that haunt their lives.

Back to Spider-Man now, as he takes care of the genetic mutated dog-like creatures protecting Osborn's land. After webbing them up, he gets closer to the Stately Osborn Manor, but out of nowhere comes the Green Goblin with a journal in his hand. The Goblin welcomes Spider-Man, but states that his journey end here, as he now has the more powerful Green Goblin to contend with. Peter responds saying that he will not keep him from getting his daughter back, and the Goblin states back: "Is that what Mongrain told you?", and then laughs away. The Goblin throws the journal at Spider-Man, stating that it was always intended for him to look at. The journal states that Osborn was a concerned citizen who knew that Peter Parker was Spider-Man, and not the original Osborn Journal that denoted his evil ways and plans. Spider-Man has had enough and throws the book at the Goblin, but the Goblin blasts him and misses. The Goblin also states his intentions of using the DNA bomb that he has created, and then we shoot on over to an exclusive restaurant in Manhattan. Mary Jane is there with her friend Jill Stacy, and she begins to wonder if she is making the right move going back into modeling, if Peter truly does get their baby back.

Again, back to the Spider-Man/ Green Goblin fight, where they go at it in the yard of the Osborn Estate, and Spider-Man finally tackles the Goblin. "No more lies!" yells Spider-Man, as the Goblin goes crashing into the ground. As Spider-Man runs for the building on the land thinking that his daughter May is in there, the Goblin tackles him, and they both go crashing through the side of the lodge. As they both go tumbling into the lodge, the Goblin seems to have gotten the best of Spider-Man, but Spider-Man comes back after him with a powerful punch to the jaw. The Green Goblin then returns a punch of his own, putting Spider-Man down on the ground, at least temporarily. Spider-Man somehow finds enough strength within him to get up and plaster the Goblin several yards, and then covers him in a vast amount of webbing. "How the great Norman Osborn couldn't stop puny Peter Parker" says Spider-Man out loud, as he puts the finishing layer of webbing onto the Green Goblin. He then makes his way walking down one of the many halls in the lodge, and then he senses that one door in particular must be where May is being kept. He gets closer to the door, with his anticipation rising on what is behind it. He finally opens it, and then gets hit over the head with a large vase. Now laying on the ground, Spider-Man turns his head to his left. "No! It can't be!" he yells in great surprise, as Spider-Man has indeed found May. The "May" he anticipated was not the same one he found though, you see, when Alison Mongrain stated that "May is alive" she meant Peter's Aunt May, and Spider-Man has just found her!

As Spider-Man is still in shock, the issue ends with the Green Goblin hysterically laughing out loud. Just how is May alive, if she supposedly died in the landmark Amazing Spider-Man #400? We shall soon see in the next part of "The Final Chapter", continued in Spectacular Spider-Man #263.
