Story
Norman Osborn has escaped a super-prison located at the
Triskelion last issue, which also saw a horde of other super-villains also
regaining their freedom. Norman has since told a story to the world, through
various media outlets, about how was illegally arrested and imprisoned by Nick
Fury, and that his son Harry was taken away from him for no reason. After Peter
Parker/ Spider-Man was nowhere to be seen last issue (aside from the very last
page), this issue begins with Peter attempting to calm down Mary Jane, after
they discover that Norman Osborn is on the loose once again. Peter takes Mary
Jane home, but is intercepted by MJ's mother who decides that should will get
out of town now that Norman has broken free. Peter then goes home, where he is
greeted by his Aunt May's friend: Doctor Miles Warren. We all know Warren was a
professor and eventually the Jackal in the regular Marvel Universe, but we have
yet to learn what he is up to in the Ultimate Universe here. When Peter gets a
chance, he informs his aunt that Osborn has escaped, and that she has to be
moved to somewhere safe. After Aunt May drives away, Peter suits up as
Spider-Man, and swings away to Norman's home. Instead of finding the Green
Goblin inside, he bumps into Electro, who "teamed-up" with Osborn last issue.
Spider-Man and Electro battle it out for several pages before Electro makes an
unexpected run for it. Spider-Man goes after him, and they fight for a couple
more pages (that's right, not much really going on here), until SHIELD gives
Spider-Man a little help in putting Electro down for good. The SHIELD agents
responsible for bringing down Electro then proceed to go after Spider-Man. The
issue ends with Peter in a little bit of a bind.

Story
Last issue, we discovered what Norman Osborn (better known as
the Green Goblin) has been imprisoned at the Triskelion, which is the former
headquarters of the big super team of the Ultimate universe: The Ultimates.
Norman has wanted to see his son Harry (who is also the Ultimate Hobgoblin),
since last issue, but has been denied just about everything he has wanted, by
the SHIELD agents who are watching over him at the Triskelion. The final page of
last issue saw a huge explosion at the Triskelion. After we learn that Norman
was responsible for the explosion, we see various other super villains walking
away freely in interesting little cameos such as Omega Red, Kraven the Hunter,
and someone who looks a heck of a lot like Gwen Stacy. Norman, now as the Green
Goblin, has a pretty violent encounter with his old friend Otto Octavius (better
known as Doctor Octopus). It doesn't end up too well for Otto. Norman next meet
up with another of his old friends from the Sinister Six era: Max Dillon, aka
Electro. The two make a run for it, just as the Ultimates arrive on the scene,
and Norman makes it back to his old home. Norman plans a booking with his
publicist with his butler Joseph, while getting dressed in a suit. After a brief
but welcome Vulture cameo, We next see that he has some pretty big plans in
using the television networks and the media. Norman plans on telling everyone
about the events that have shaped the course of his life. Norman proceeds with a
well-fabricated sob-story about how the government took his son from him, as
well as his home, his company, and put him in jail without informing him of what
he done. He further states that he has done nothing but help this country,
blames Nick Fury for much of his life's adversity, and then begins to actually
cry on television. Where is Peter for this entire issue? He finally shows up on
the very last page where he sees Norman live on television, while passing by a
video/ electronic store with Mary Jane. Nice issue, although it would have been
nice to see Spider-Man actually in his own book.
Art
Very Good.
Best Page: The page with a freshly transformed Green Goblin.

Norman somehow freed himself from being imprisoned by
means of energy displacement.

action is in the context of telling the story, not providing pin-up scenes.

headquarters.
Spider-Girl uses the armor's sonic blasts to apparently destroy Carnage and save

is temporary or a permanent disability.
Moose blames Spider-Girl for taking away his father's hope of beating cancer.

Title:
"One More Day" Part One |
Character Watch |
|
Story
The long-awaited "One More Day" begins here, with Aunt May still in the hospital
clinging to life after being shot by an assassin hired by the Kingpin. Peter is
still on the run from the police from last issue's "law-breaking" issue that saw
him punch-out a detective, and commit various other felonies. May has been
transported to another hospital from the end of last issue, and the "Morgans"
(the Parkers) are informed that unless there is some indication that someone
will pay for the medical bills, may will have to be moved to charity care ward.
This does sit very well with Peter of course, taking offense that his aunt is
being viewed as a "charity case". Just before Peter goes off to see someone with
a "bottomless checkbook", the doctor has a brief talk with him, and Peter
discovers that he has a "fan". Peter then swings on over to Avengers Tower (or
whatever it's called), breaks in, and basically picks a fight with the mega-rich
Tony Stark (better known as Iron Man, and is in quite a few places at once in
the marvel universe these days). The two heroes take their fight out into the
streets below, where Pete ends up shooting a ton of webbing on and around Iron
Man, thereby immobilizing him for the time being. Peter informs Stark that his
Aunt is dying, and while Tony is very sorry to hear this news, he does or says
nothing to help him financially or otherwise. Starks lets Peter walk away as he
escapes from the webbing, but threatens that he will bring him in the next time
they meet. When Stark arrives back at the tower, he has gives some orders to his
long-time butler Jarvis. Shortly thereafter, Jarvis shows up at the hospital
with a big fat check. While things now appear to be getting better for the
Parker's, the real-life fact remains that Aunt May is just not going to make it
back to life at her age and present condition. The doctor states that there's
nothing humanly possible to stop her from dying. Peter is still determined to
find a way though. Many readers already know where this story is heading, and
have very strong opinions about what they have heard or read about it. Lets all
let this play out. This issue also has plenty of kind-of unnecessary extras in a
Spider-Man profile, very limited costume gallery, and some sketchbook type pages
that have been featured in the "One More Day" Sketchbook previously. There is
also a variant cover to this issue by artist Marko Djurdevic. Part two is to be
continued in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #24, which will also be
$3.99, and also have a variant cover.
Art
Excellent.
Best Page: The last almost double-page spread of Spider-Man swinging away.

Spoilers
The doctor appears to know that Peter "Morgan" is
Spider-Man.
Spider-Man saved the doctor's uncle two years ago, and now wants to "return the
favor".
The doctor states that he will do what he can to "hide" Aunt May.

Story
Young Peter Parker is still in high school in this
one-issue story, and the entire school is preparing for a visit by the famous
Human Torch. Peter has always been quite jealous of the Human Torch and the
admiration that he received early in his career, and he is no different here.
Even school rival Flash Thompson agrees with Peter that too much is being out of
his pending appearance at the school, although that bonding still does not make
them friends. Shortly thereafter, Peter's spider-sense goes off after a janitor
passes him by in the hallway, then the news that the Human Torch has arrived on
school grounds is blurted on the PA system. All the teenagers rush out to the
baseball stand to view his "air show", but just after a few moments, the Human
Torch realizes that he is not in full control of himself or his flame. Peter
realizes this and alerts the crowd to the impending danger, and the Torch just
misses the huge crowd. Peter then makes his getaway to change into Spider-Man,
where he stumbles upon the real school janitor, who was knocked out and placed
in a camping bag. It becomes obvious at this point that someone is portraying
the school janitor and controlling the Torch from afar, but who? Spider-Man
plays the still-unknown villain, and picks a fight with the Torch right in the
middle of the baseball field. After webbing up the Torch in his fire-proof
webbing, Spider-Man makes his way over to a suspicious looking guy on top of a
school building with a pair of binoculars. This guy turns out to be Pyro, who
can mentally control fire. Unfortunately for Pyro, he is in the wrong place at
the wrong time, and is defeated in a heartbeat. The Human Torch shows up to land
a good punch on him. It turns out that Pyro wanted to get some "respect", and
that he did not like living in the Human Torch's shadow.
