Story
Ok, we all know that this is possibly the most controversial storyline since the "Clone Saga", and since we know that the following storyline/ series "tag" is going to be "Brand New Day", we know something pretty significant is going to happen soon. There has been plenty of media coverage and heated message board discussion, by many long-term and new readers who do like like/ agree with the outcome of this storyline. I will go on about this storyline when it concludes with the final part that is scheduled to ship at the end of December. For now, on with this issue's review: Peter is now at the end of his rope, and it looks like he is going to have to accept the fact that his Aunt May is going to die, despite help from Doctor Strange and others. At the end of the last part of "One More Day" (see Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #24) Peter was greeted by an unknown young red-headed girl who offers to "help" Peter. The little girl takes Peter for a walk, where she introduces him to a man who is a software designer. This man lives in a fantasy world of his own, because things didn't turn out the way they were "supposed" to. It is pretty obvious, even at this early part of the story, that Peter has just seen an alternate reality version of himself, and he is not the last one either. Next up, Peter is greeted by a very wealthy man from his limousine, and given a lift back to the little red-headed girl. Peter learns that this man has everything that he ever wanted in life except for one thing: A young woman he once knew in high school, but he lost her. The man informs Peter that he would trade everything he has for her, an then the two depart. Peter is now greeted by the red-headed girl, but she is not so little this time. She is now a full grown woman, and Peter now feels like he is living in a dream-state. The "woman" tells him that there are an infinite number of possibilities of how his life could have transpired, and that the men that he has just seen were but only two of them.

The remainder of the issue is somewhat difficult to review, without spoiling much of it. Lets just say that the woman transforms into someone that Peter/ Spider-Man has encountered very few times, but does has a very large presence in the Marvel Universe. This villain declares that he is the only one who can save Peter's Aunt May, and proposes a deal to Peter in return for her life. Peter quickly turns down this offer, but there is someone else who appears to be very interested in this proposal, and wants to hear the spoiler-villain out. They now have to made that decision fast, since after all, they only have one more day!

This issue also includes a profile of the spoiler-villain, and a partial reprint of his first appearance. This issue also has a variant cover available that may interest some readers/ collectors. The next and final part of "One More Day" is scheduled to take place in Amazing Spider-Man #545 at the end of December. Remember: Amazing Spider-Man is now scheduled to be published three times a month starting in January with revolving writer/ artist teams.

Story
Spider-Man finally came face to face with an actual Goblin last issue, in part four of the "Death Of A Goblin" storyline. Part five begins here with the cliffhanger from last issue, when Spider-Man and the Green Goblin are falling out of a penthouse window battling each other. Remember, Norman Osborn has escaped a super-prison located at the Triskelion, and has since "sold" a story to the the world that he was illegally arrested and imprisoned by Nick Fury, and that his son Harry was taken away from him for no reason. Members of SHIELD, as well as Peter's former girlfriend Kitty Pryde, watch as the two adversaries plummet towards the street. Kitty uses her phasing powers to help Spider-Man, by grabbing him, and phasing him through the street and through to the sewers below. The two return to street level, where they discover that the Green Goblin is somehow missing. Peter returns home alone, as Aunt May and Mary Jane have both taken a "vacation" to a safer place. After Peter greets a couple of undercover SHIELD agents watching over him, he walks back into his home, and he discovers that he has a visitor. The issue ends with another unexpected press conference, and it is not by Norman Osborn. Not much really going this issue.

Art
Very Good.

Story
The focal point of this issue is the history of the Black Tarantula. The Hobgoblin seeks out this information, as he tries to topple the Black Tarantula's criminal empire. He learns that the title and powers of Black Tarantula are actually a legacy, which have been passed down through one family since the Middle Ages. The current Black Tarantula is said the be the most powerful. Meanwhile, the Mindworm begins his plan to help the Hobgoblin take down Spider-Girl.

We also have some developments in Mayday Parker's love life, as ex-boyfriend Gene Thompson is now seeing Simone DeSantos, Mayday's rival at school. Also, Mayday's best friend Davida Kirby asks Wes, a guy Mayday has been interested in, out on a date, potentially creating some conflict between the two friends.

Cover (of 5): 2.0

Story
Many long-time Spider-Man readers will remember the classic Doctor Octopus storyline from the pages of Amazing Spider-Man #53-56. In that story, Aunt May took in as a tenant in her home, none other than Otto Octavius (better known as Doctor Octopus). While that story wasn't as far fetched as the Aunt May - Doc Ock wedding that almost took place in Amazing Spider-Man #131, it was still a memorable story. Here in Marvel Adventures, we have a take on the tenant aspect of that story that begins with a young Peter Parker being introduced to Aunt May's new Boarder: The very famous nuclear physicist Dr. Otto Octavius. Just after Otto reveals his mechanical arms to his new roommates, Peter freaks out. Octavius then calms Peter down by stating that he does not wish to disturb the Parker household, and claims (for the time being) to be a new man. Octavius has just paid his debt to society by serving time in prison, and now needs a place to live after being released. The next day, Peter suits up as Spider-Man, skips out of school, and checks up on his Aunt May. Spider-Man finds the two of them in the backyard and starts a fight with Ock. After Ock resists to fight, he makes a good impression on Aunt May, and Spider-Man reluctantly leaves. After Peter serves some detention for skipping class, he goes back home and snoops into Ock's room where he finds a map of an electric grid for part of the city. Aunt May catches him snooping around, and Peter is left to wonder why Octavius had the map of the electric grid. Days later, Peter walks by the Stark International plant where Ock is working at, but the place is completely empty at that moment. Peter rushes back home to discover that Otto is drilling an enormous hole in the Parker basement. Obviously, Doctor Octopus is up to no good, and Spider-Man makes his way to the Stark International plant. The two begin to battle, but Octavius' power is magnified with use of a particle canon. Just as Ock is about to pulverize Spider-Man, he webs up some liquid nitrogen and throws it onto Ock's arms thereby freezing them instantly. Spider-Man then proceeds to break Ock's arms into many pieces, and Ock is done. Peter was right after all about Octavius, but that doesn't stop his aunt from taking in any new boarders.

Art
Very Good.
Best Page: The almost full page where Otto Octavius shows off his mechanical arms.

Continuity Police
No tickets given.

Spoilers
The Parker house was built on top of the main power trunk heading to the Stark International plant.
Octavius was contacted by a Stark worker to help steal a particle canon.
Aunt May takes in the Rhino as a new boarder on the last page.

Good
Nice single issue read for all ages.

Bad
Aunt May looks ditzy.
