Strange Tales #110 1st Appearance of Doctor Strange. |
| From the very beginning in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man formed a very good duo. Chronologically that wasn't their first meeting though as that took place in Untold Tales Of Spider-Man: Strange Encounters where they went up against Baron Mordo and the dreaded Dormammu. ASM Annual did set something in motion that would seem to be synonymous with a Doctor Strange and Spider-Man team-up though: The man by the name of Xandu. This villain would try and try again to conquer the world, but only at a time when Doc and Spidey were together! |  |

Xandu would meet Doc and Spidey again in their first team-up in Marvel Team-Up #21, one of many appearances by Doctor Strange in that title. Xandu would also appear in Secret Defenders #6-8 and the square-bound comic The Way To Dusty Death going up against, you guessed it! Xandu wasn't the only times these two would hook-up though as another early appearance occurred in Amazing Spider-Man #109 and various other Spider-Titles such as Spectacular Spider-Man #115 & 117. They would see each other in other titles such as Doc's team title the Defenders #107-109 and Daredevil Annual #5. |
| Strangely (no pun intended!), Spider-Man does not show up much in Doctor Strange's titles over the years. Outside of a reprint in Doctor Strange #179 which reprints ASM Annual #2 and a cameo in Doctor Strange V3 #61, Spidey is a no-show. Most recently, Spider-Man and Doc has appeared together in Sensational Spider-Man #22 & 23 against the Technomancers and Buel. Doctor Strange also gave Spidey a helping hand in the limited series Lifeline helping Spider-Man decipher an ancient tablet with a cast of many. Who knows, maybe we should see Xandu popping up again sometime soon! |  |
